It was added to our notes since we believe it could accommodate larger catamarans and looked like the first place to call. Website says it can accommodate vessels up to 150 feet and an 8 foot draft. Based on image, looks like catamarans will be on T-docks or outer edge. Wireless internet, power, and water. Fuel, showers, laundry facilities, ice, beverages, marine supplies, and pump-out are at the Dock house at the head of the transient dock.

  • Lusby, Maryland

St Leonard Creek off of the Patuxent River Our first reason to go here was to experience Vera's White Sands Restaurant. Although we knew the restaurant has been stripped of its past character, it was still fun to imagine what it was like. The second reason was the anchorage location. We met someone at Solomon's Island who said this is his favorite anchorage, and we know why. Our map has a caution for the depth. That may be incorrect. Later we learned that our depth reader was occasionally giving false reading. No problem, the underwater growth must have reached a point where it caused some interference. I am leaving it on the map until I confirm it during our next visit. NOAA chart 12264 Vera’s White Sands Restaurant and Marina Restaurant phone number is 410-586-1182 Marina phone number is 410-474-9917 1200 White Sands Drive Lusby, MD 20657 38.42115020, -76.48662710 Restaurant hours vary and were closed on Monday and Tuesday, so recommend checking their Facebook page. Their Facebook page will also list daily hour changes (i.e. due to poor weather). Anchorage at Rollins Cove is very calm and holding is good. Spectacular scenery. Watching the cows is the best. Location: 38 24.280 N 076 29.028 W Another catamaran was anchored north of Vera’s, from a local we were told to stay to the right of the sand bar. Dingy ride from Rollins Cove anchorage to Vera’s White Sands restaurant and marina is an easy going 1 mile. As of 2023 dock B is for restaurant patrons and transients. We asked and were allowed to fill jerry cans with water using the water spickets at the dock. Bring a hose. As of 2023 the marina looks like it only has slips for smaller monohulls. The fuel tanks were covered. It was the end of September, and we did not know if it was seasonal or permanent. The gas prices made me think the fuel tanks were closed for a while. There are no visible pump out stations.

  • Leonardtown, Maryland

This is a hidden gem. Town feels as charming and inviting as a Hallmark movie. People are friendly. Breton Bay, off Potomac River Lat / Lon: N 38° 17.155' / W 076° 38.291' Website: www.visitstmarysmd.com/site/detail/leonardtown-wharf-park State Hwy 326, Leonardtown, MD 20650 (301) 475-9791 leonardtown.somd.com Dingy Dock: Plenty of space at the Wharf, with good cleats. It was about a 2 mile dingy ride from where we anchored to the wharf. Restaurants: easy to walk to several of them in town. Grocery: We walked 2.4 miles from the wharf to Food Lion. Point Lookout road is busy and there were sidewalks most of the way, there was a path in the grass for the other parts. The kayak trail ends close to the grocery store (and laundramat). There are some smaller stores in the town close to the wharf. There is a trolly on weekends that would take you from the wharf to the Food Lion. True adventure to try next visit: take dingy to wharf, then either take inflatable kayaks or rent them and go to winery / kayak stop close to Food Lion and laundromat, and then kayak back. Note as of 2023: Leonardtown Wharf future plans are to add water and pump out.

  • Herring Bay, Maryland

Anchored (38 44.509 N, 76 32.364W) on September 12, 2023: scenic, quiet, one sailboat, one powerboat, minimal rain, almost no wind. Other reviewers said it is rolly. It was rolly for us during the nighttime, especially since there was a storm with winds from the west, but we were fine. Another Catamaran anchored close to the wall (Fairhaven cliffs), which was most likely for west wind protection. Caution: crab pot field if you cut across the channel from the north, if low visibility we recommend staying between the buoys. • Charleston, South Carolina

Anchorages · South channel range has wakes during the day and poor shore access. · Ashley river has good reviews to ride out substantial knots (i.e. 30) and gusts (i.e. 40). · Mile 469 and mile 465 has a bottom full of debris, every reviewer said not to anchor there since the debris from the bridge snags anchors and makes it necessary to cut and leave them there since they cannot be retrieved. May 2023 we anchored next to the USS Yorktown. Directions: Follow cooper river inlet to Charleston Harbor Marina. Holding was good. As stormy weather approached, the waves to dingy dock at Charleston Maritime Center made it too far and dangerous to reach by dingy. Lesson learned is to check all potential weather changes, even for a short window. • It's Getting Hot in Here

While we should learn how to adapt to the current temperature, we admit that we are spoiled and use air conditioning / heating systems on board. You can imagine how we respond when the air conditioner has a high P5 fault code in the middle of a super-hot day. Well, you don't have to imagine since this video Clearing air conditioner fault - YouTube tells the story.

  • Solomons Island, Maryland

I almost felt bad that I enjoyed kayaking around the anchorage and walking in the state park more than going into town. This is a beautiful place to anchor if you are looking for a chance to just enjoy the moment. The town has a few small shops and plenty of restaurants. It seems to be a place for long weekends with a focus on fishing and relaxation. Tiki Bar seems to the place where most people hand out. Dingy ride from the anchorage by Myrtle Point Park is long and bumpy. Okay to do once buy no desire to do it again. Unless staying at a marina, services are laundry and groceries are not easily accessible. Mill Creek anchorage by Myrtle Point Park coordinates were 38 20.171 N and 76 30.164 W; boats come during the weekend, but overall is a quiet and beautiful place to be. While anchorage by Myrtle Point Park, wanted to see if Blackstone Marina is good for pump-out and water …. Let me know if it is. There is a pump-out at the Solomons County Dingy Dock; we did not feel we could get our vessel there, nor it would be long enough.

  • Creature Comforts

This week we left the marina with no plans to stop at another marina for over 2 months. For the last 2 weeks I was in a whirlwind of what to stock. For some reason I kept believing we were forgetting something. Last night I started laughing hysterically when it hit me that I was trying to control my environment instead of just allowing God to provide what we needed. You have to understand, marinas are comfortable places since they provide access to all of the water we could possibly use, have great land amenities and are located close to grocery stores and restaurants. Leaving the marina means we will minimize water usage since our tank only holds 185 gallons, food will be whatever we thought of bringing and disposing of waste becomes a challenge. But I have to remember that I need to be pushed out of my comfort zone and into new adventures. So whatever happens, happens. You know what? I can't think of a single princess or adventure movie where they packed or used a toothbrush, or even luggage in most cases. They just go off into the unknown and some how everything just works at the end.

  • Let Them Shine

When my nephew was 4 years old, he taught me how to play basketball. He began every new skill with "Aunt Tina, someday when you play in the NBA, this is how you will .... (dribble, shoot, pass, etc.)". He would show me how to do it and then I would take my best shot. After about 45 minutes I did the awful by telling him there was very little chance of me playing in the NBA. At the time I thought I did well since my excuse was being too old. Years later I felt guilty for telling him I placed a limit on myself. Even though he didn't remember it, I apologized. I reminded him that he has the potential to overcome anything. I still don't have the desire to develop the skills to be a famous basketball player in the NBA and I am more than okay with that. However, I do have the desire to pray for and encourage him, my niece, their teammates and friends. I may not have the skills to teach them how to excel at one of their activities, but I do believe God will guide myself and others to be the example that says, "Someday when you discover the talents God has given you to achieve your purpose, this is how you will shine".

  • Giving God the Glory

There are stories to tell, interesting .... boring .... I don't know. Cleatus, Shelly and the land of Bidas have become a part of my life. God must have a purpose for blessing me with their imagination. I hope sharing their adventures add of bit of joy to your life and inspire you to discover so many of the cool things this world has to offer. P.S. This picture was taken by accident. It reminds how some of the most memorable moments are the unplanned ones.
